Reset Your Nervous System in 120 seconds.
To hum or not to hum?
According to the neuroscience expert Kyle Cox:
“Paramedics hum with closed mouths between emergency calls to reset their stress hormones.
2 minutes of closed mouth humming drops cortisol by 65%, more than 30 minutes of meditation.
The mechanism; humming creates vibrations in your facial bones that stimulate the vagus nerve through your sinuses.“
Closed mouth is crucial. It traps the vibrations in your skull creating stronger.
Researchers tested cortisol levels.
Open mouthed humming reduced 20%. Closed mouth by 65%. The frequency doesn’t matter. Just steady vibration for 2 full minutes.
Your sinuses act as resonance chambers amplifying the effect directly to your brain stem. Athletes will use this directly before competition, surgeons before operation.
The vibrations literally shake stress chemistry out of your nervous system.
Set a timer. Hum continuously with lips sealed. Breathe through your nose.
Minute 1 feels weird. By minute 2, you’ll feel the shift. ”

Now for the spiritual side of humming:
Aum (Om) is said to bring you in tune with the cosmos. From Kyle Cox, we’ve seen neurological proof that is has a real effect.
But what if you add a few more syllables?
“Om (or Aum, ॐ) holds a profound place in ancient Buddhist and Hindu traditions, serving as both a sacred syllable and a therapeutic tool. It represents the primordial sound of creation, the universe’s vibration, and the ultimate reality (Brahman).
It symbolizes the union of mind, body, and spirit, and is frequently chanted at the beginning and end of rituals to signify the cyclical nature of life.”
It generates a vibratory resonance that harmonizes the body and mind.
Aum has four syllables and four distinct sounds: starting at the back of the throat is “ahhhh,” then the sound moves forward filling the cavity of the mouth with “ooooo,” then the humming vibration occurs when the lips are closed, “mmmmm.” Finally, there is the sound of silence
