What Is Missing?
The fact is, nothing is really missing, but when we’re not present in the moment that we are in, it can feel like something is missing.
Presence. Being here, now. You’ve probably heard that somewhere! But we get lost so easily in our thoughts. Sure, we have to make plans, do our jobs, buy food, pay the rent, but there is more to life than that. Way more.
Do this:
Stop for a minute, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Or two deep breaths! Check in with yourself in this moment. Look inside. Are there any boundaries in consciousness? Is there an end to this inner peace? Is anything missing here?
Stay here for a bit.
You can always access this inner knowing. Every time you look, it’s there, underlying everything.
If you’d like to experience that, listen to this Guided Meditation with Music:

When I’m playing improvised meditative music, I am delightfully in the moment! I feel like I am just a big ear, hearing and responding. Joining in the dance of music making. Deeply moved by something unnameable. Playing meditative music is the best way to stay in the moment!

Here’s what William Westney has to say in his book “The Perfect Wrong Note”:

What vibrations are we sending out? When I’m operating from presence, I feel like I am a channel of good will. This can happen in slow meditative music as well as in Rock, Latin, Pop or any kind of music! I’ve played many styles of music for thousands of meditators and experienced the joy of being present, creating and coming together in the moment! “Mistakes” can actually wake us up and bring us into the present even more!
When I was a street musician, we always made more money when we made mistakes because all of a sudden we really had to be THERE and present, in order to find our way back to the music! The listeners felt that – we suddenly became more alive!

More from William Westney:

It truly is a great freedom to jump into the river of music, but you do have to keep “going with the flow” and steer around the rocks, follow the current and keep your head above water. It’s an absolutely blissful ride though!
